Bologna, an efficient structure for airport mobility
The new Park A at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport interprets the multi-storey car park as a lightweight, rational and high-performance infrastructure. Extending over seven above-ground levels, the facility can accommodate 2,200 vehicles and responds to the growing mobility demands of one of Italy’s leading airports.
The primary structure comprises 2,560 tonnes of structural steelwork, complemented by 25,000 m² of profiled steel sheeting. This solution provides large spans, rapid erection and high durability. The use of steel produced entirely from recycled scrap and manufactured using certified renewable energy further strengthens the project’s environmental credentials.
Designed in accordance with the Fire Safety Engineering approach, the car park meets fire safety requirements without the need for additional protection to the structural elements. The project therefore combines construction efficiency, sustainability and engineering precision in a system designed to support the airport’s future development.
