Cantù, long spans for the new arena
The new Cantù Sports Arena was conceived as a flexible venue for basketball, events and public participation. It interprets the sports facility as an open, multifunctional structure capable of adapting to different configurations and uses.
The building’s structural centrepiece is its expansive steel roof, supported by trusses spanning more than 66 metres. Almost 1,000 tonnes of structural steelwork form a long-span system developed through an integrated BIM design process and industrialised methods focused on precision, erection efficiency and performance control.
The project transforms structural complexity into a distinctive architectural feature, using steel to free the internal space and support a new infrastructure for sport and the city.
